Family time - labor day weekend (2-5/9)

I caught my flight with little drama, but realized that US Aiways and American really do pale in comparison to Singapore Air, Swiss International and Lufthansa... at least Continental is ok. So much for the USA aviation industry leaders.

After a uncomfortable but uneventful flight over to Richmond, I met Joe at the airport and we found Orlaith shortly after. She flew from London to Charlotte and then up to Richmond.

We were off to Andrew and Cate's for a Friday night casual get together. Unfortunately we couldn't avoid arriving right as the party was gearing up. But that was ok, we recovered from our trips and it was all good. The extended immediate (does that concept even work?) was there. That included all my aunt's and uncle's from the Lunsford side, which is a feat that I don't that has happen ed in 24 years or so and a boatload of kids. The focal point was really my grandmother as it will be her 90th birthday soon. The weekend was also celebration my cousin Johanna's baby shower.

We couldn't really bring loads of food on the planes but I have some chocolates from Argentina and Orlaith brought some candies and things for the kids too. Thankfully Andrew and Cate, Johanna and Hunter and others brought or made loads of food.

The next day we were off to Maymount Park for the actual celebrations. Many more people were able to attend, including some of Tita's sisters and various extended cousins and relatives. After all the excitement abated, we got to do little running around and shopping but spent most of the time just visiting with people. Fortunately we had the extra day to see everyone and then it was off to Stamford. - sorry i didnt really take any photos, I know some of ya'll did though.
