Sometimes it hurts to look this good

So last weekend was Halloween. I was a bit disappointed, its just not that big. There were a few people here and there but not what I was expecting. I actually did nothing on the 31st but a friend was having a party on the 1st… a bit backward but apparently it was easier with some people from out of town and whatnot. So we meet up at the local sports bar/traveller/Australian hangout - the Walkabout (it’s a chain, think Outback but a wanna be college bar…). Few rounds, some bad dancing to some bad covers and we were off to the house party. It was a good time but don't ask me too many details, it gets fuzzy. There were your usual suspects: werewolves, zombies, cowboys (bit more Brokeback than Eastwood), Palin, a pirate and few other odds and ends (including a feminine product - yes). At risk, no pretty much guarantee, of embarrassing myself, I glam'd up, put on my best heels (and fishnets) as a reject performer from Dancing with the Stars. Sad I know and I make one ugly woman (not telling you where the pictures are!!). Guess that is reassuring.

In lighter news the new Bond movie came out, but really where do they get these names? Quantum of Solace? It was entertaining but not a piece of cinematic wonder. It is Bond what do you expect Citizen Kane? from the franchise that brought us Moonraker and Goldfinger? There was also a survey recently that came back with the results that most women prefer an accountant to James Bond… SCORE, I win. You know someone stable and not always the move to someone jaunting across the world… Ok so maybe I lose, but it was close.

Work wise, its getting a lot more like the US, busy. My current commute to work is a fun one. Walk to the station, tube for about 15 minutes, walk 10 minutes to an overground rail station, train for 30 to 55 (depends on which I get on, still learning) and finally 15 minute cab ride to the office, all not including waiting on trains or when there is a delay (which is often). The real irony… my client is a car company. All in all its not too bad (but this is day 3 of 4 or 5 weeks, so I could be full of it).

Oh yea, there was an election this week. It surprised me how much people overseas really care. I mean REALLY care. I saw buttons and other campaign propaganda over here, kind of annoying really. People do constantly ask about how the system works and why it is so overly complicated and weird. Sadly all I can saw is, yup welcome to American politics. Obama won, no real surprise. Either way the next president is going to have a hard time. Dubya didn't do them or us any favours. I am glad that he will be gone, I am so tired of not be able to explain how he got into office, why he has done what he has and realising that he has made the rest of the world (not just countries and governments but most individual people) lose respect for US.
