So this week was fairly uneventful. The commute to work has been interesting, as I managed to take the not so fast train once or twice (1-1.5 hr instaed of 30/40 mintues). Ipod has been a must. This week was Guy Fawke's and Saturday was the Lord Mayor's Show. Between the two there have been fireworks all week, mostly random people but a few organised.
Since 1215, the "City of London" (only 1 square mile) has been electing it's own Lor
d Mayor. The Mayor must be presented to the Sovereign (in Westminster about 2 or 3 miles away) and swear fealty to the Crown. They still ride in a now 251 yr old custom coach. The Mayor is more of a PR type position. They promote the City and business around the world. The New Lord Mayor is actually a Partner at work and therefore we had a contingent in the parade. The parade had over 500 horses, 15 marching bands (my favorite were the guys dressed as Batman) and more military units than I've seen since a parade on Bragg. There were all kinds of groups and businesses in the parade: 151 including - loads of pipe and drum corps. It was kind of funny when the bankers guild or whatever they were called were booed when they passed. Needless to saw it was raining and cold, so I didn't take any pictures. These are form the official website - http://www.lordmayorsshow.org/. I didn't end up going to the fireworks, bit tired and weather was crap. And a few pints after a 3 mile run really takes your energy away.

On a happier note - UNC won their first basketball game - one down and beat GT for a big football win. Good times.
Oh and I have booked my holiday vacation to egypt, but more on that another time, this is already
