OK so for my up coming trip to Egypt. It took awhile to get together since my first options included much more expensive flights that connected through Istanbul with a 25 hour layover… could be interesting but really sounded like too much hassle. Also my other ideas were almost as expensive but put me on mainland Europe or in the Med. Really why go to the Med when the weather is crap… definitely going to Malta or Mallorca this summer. And Hopefully I will start squeezing in some shorts weekend trip to Europe soon. So for a big 2 wk trip I needed something better. So I ended up on a Swiss Air flight that has a short layover in Geneva in route to Cairo.
In Egypt I am going on a group tour through Top Deck tours, recommended by my flatmate. It should be fun, 15 days starting/ending in Cairo. We go through Giza (ummm pyramids), Saqqara (temples and stuff), Luxor (temples and stuff), Aswan (dam), Abu Simbel (really cool temples and stuff), Hurghada (beaches), and Dahab (beaches and Mt Sinai). On the way we do spend two days sailing the Nile in traditional feluccas and will ride in coaches and trains. In Dahab we have a few days to chill on the beach, go snorkelling, scuba diving, or quad bike/camel/horse riding in the desert. But Dahab is where we spend New Years… so I am not sure how much I am actually going to get around to doing. Don't worry I'll be fine, I know no swimming in the Nile (unless they say its ok…) what with the friendly crocodiles and hippos, I'll be careful in the markets and won't drink the water (unless boiled or bottled). Oh yea and no stealing from the tombs or making fun of mummies unless Rachel Weisz is around. To see about egypt go to my friend from home's travel blog - http://simlakhiani.blogspot.com/ and his pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/sim.lakhiani. Got to catch up with him as he was passing through to go to Nairobi. Good to see a face from home.
So holiday sales are slowly starting this week. Don't they know that you can't do that until after Thanksgiving!! I don't care if there is a credit crunch (hate that phrase, makes me think of Nestle Crunch bar - mmmm crunchy chocolate, I digress), wait, you are messing up my internal calendar (don't have a clock, I like to take things a bit slower, I have an internal calendar…). The stores are chock full of Bluehaired Battalions, Soccer moms (unfortunately few yummy mummies - kind of like Stifler's mom but nicer way to put it) and loads of random people. Oh yea you got to stay with me on the pop culture references, being pop culture its different here so most of my references or jokes or whatever have no effect here… My chat has truly turned bad.
Favorite new phrase - "make shapes" what does this mean? well if you said dance you are right….
