Me. So since I have arrived back in the US and don't have a place to live or car for that matter, I have had to really on the kindness of friends and family. And if that failed, I guilt them into it. To date I have managed driving over 2,000 miles and staying with at least eleven different friends and family. Thanks ya'll. I could be reliving summer break without you. For a bit more on couch surfing, try the couchsurfing.com. It is an online community for people who want to travel and meet people willing to show them the local side of a place. Ahh the Internet being used for its best purpose, no not adult entertainment or EBay but real communication and interaction. But that's another blog altogether.
Oops, guess I should have started with the good news, the US won the most medals in the Olympics, gas is cheaper and I have finally been granted a UK work Permit, should have my visa soon and have a tentative start date for work in London for September 15th. I am not sure whether to be excited or dismayed. I am kind of used to the whole not working thing but it is still fairly expensive when you're not getting paid (thanks again everyone).
That is another thing that is very evident after even my short time abroad. The US is definitely a place of conspicuous consumerism. I am not saying that is a bad thing, it just is. On that note, I have seen gas prices here range from right at $4.00 to 3.43 a gallon, or for anyone from the rest of the world that's $1.06 to .91. Yes still a far cry from the 1.70 to 1.90 a litre I saw in Australia and England, but for us that's still expensive.
The Olympics have just ended and the Presidential Election just really going (RNC ongoing and DNC was the other week), there has been plenty of controversy and meaningless TV on. So I've been racking up tons of Xbox hours, seriously Rockband might be the best game ever. Shout out to my band back in Sydney, just remember, its the only polite thing to do. If you haven't played it and you like music and video games... you don't know what you are missing.
