Whas' Happenin

So its been a few weeks. But not too much has changed for me around here. Just been working and going out and experiencing the city (i.e. partying). A few of the friends I have made, both in Sydney and from all around Oz and the world (Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, New Zealand...) have been around and went to some good parties. I have gone out to several salsa parties lately. There is a fairly active community of Latinos and others that I have met. The best party was probably on Australia Day ( = Fourth of July).
The group went to Bronte Beach, just down the coast about a 30 minute walk. There were somewhere around 100 people in our group but the beach and BBQs were crowded given the holiday. We had a big tent, DJs playing reggaeton/salsa/merengue/whatever, empanandas and plenty of refreshments. We were out there for most of the day just relaxing/partying/dancing, it was good fun. Since then I have probably had half a dozen other nights out with various people from the crowd to different venues around the city. Its always fun. Now that my salsa has gotten passable, now I just have to work on my spanish more.

The other thing with Australia Day were these helicopters that had HUGE Aussie flags hanging from them flying all over the place. This is the view from my bedroom balcony over Bondi Beach.

As I mentioned last time, the lorikeets now sit on my window sill and chirp if I am home. Apparently they are addicted to sugar. They get really annoying.

Unfortunately I missed the SuperBowl. Sounds like it was the best one in recent years. It was on during the day here (live broadcast put it on midday Monday), but work kind of precluded me from watching. What does really distress me is that I cannot watch the UNC/Dook game. It will be on at 1pm here but I have to give a presentation... And Lawson is probably injured and both teams are in the top 3. All the fates are against me. That would be almost enough reason for me to return to that States, as if there aren't others. But I won't talk about work.

I will be returning for a visit to NC from March 21-April 5. Yes that is Easter weekend. I am planning to be in Charlotte most of the time with visits to Fayetteville/Rowland, Greensboro and Chapel Hill/Triangle (as I fly back to Sydney from RDU). What you think I am going to fly US Air again?? GO reread my first post. As entertaining as it ways, I will be avoiding them if at all possible. Anyway, anyone in or around those cities, I hope you will come around and say hi when I am in town.

Ya'll take it easy, hopefully these clouds will go away and I can spend some time at the beach again... Don't you love January/February. I do.
