Friday, 11/2 we caught a flight out of Zurich to Sydney via Singapore. I am not sure how long it took but we left at 10 am and got into Sydney at about 6pm... on Saturday. It felt great to be back in Sydney, like putting on your favorite pair of underwear, its familiar and brought back good memories.
We promptly checked in, got some dinner but then pretty much slept as much as possible before our flight on Monday... at 6am. I was able to catch up with one friend on Sunday but still hadn't been able to make plans to see any others.
We caught our little flight, very little, out to the town of Cobar. Our flight fit aobut 20 and the pilot and co pilot were also the baggage handlers, stewards and any other job that had to be performed. You could even see right through the cockpit window...
Cobar is a small mining town of about 7,500 people. Our mine is one of the older in the area and currently the second deepest in Australia at 1.5km deep! During our visit we went down the mine. It gets really hot that far down! Cobar is nice but small and quiet. I even managed a small trip out into the bush to go shooting... It was nice to get back to Sydney for the weekend.
The second weekend in Sydney I managed to catch up with several people I used to work with. I met up with Andrew, who came throught the UK last year, and then Grace, Mona and Eugene who all made up the team I worked in. I also managed to see a couple of other friends. It was great catching up with people after almost 3 years!!
