So I arrived in Bogota on the night bus after about 8 hours (funny they told me it would be 10... guess there is less traffic, good
thing I couldn't see out the window because I know the driver was going CRAZY!) at about 5am. I caught a cab to the Candelaria
neighborhood (the old section of town) to a
hostel that was recommended to me.
After about 30 minutes of waiting for the night person to wake up and answer, I was told thatthe hostel was full. So I went to one they said was nearby and it was full. Unfortunately the second hostel sent me back to the first one...
Finally I just decided to walk down the road
at about 6am and see what happened. Thankfully I found another hostel all of 50 meters down the road that had plenty of space (there was only 3 other people there). I took a nap for a couple of hours, then met up with some friends that were staying at the first hostel. Unfortunately since it was Monday the Gold Museum (main attraction) was closed. So we wandered around town and just hung out. Two of the girls (both from Argentina) were heading home the next day some we had a few drinks and a HUGE pizza that night.
The next night the remaining friend Kat, (girl from US that I was in
SCUBA class with in Panama) and I went to the Gold Museum. The gold museum had all sorts of pieces from all over Colombia. it was really interesting and only 3,000 (about $1.75) to get in. Afterwards we just hung out, I ended up at a salsa class at the
hostel for fun and just hung out. I was
flying up to Santa Marta the next afternoon so wanted to take it easy. The next morning I ran a few errands and helped Kat get some things shipped home before she left on the bus for Solento in the South. I caught a taxi to the airport and actually had a taxi race with two guys I met in Medellin who were headed for a flight to Caracas. A short stay in Bogota but nice enough. After Medellin I didn't really feel like going out big so it was a good. Oh yeah - Bogota is cold, not like freezing but comparatively - it was seriously cold, I personally liked the change.
