Ok so its about one month until I return... Well 32 days. So to reiterate, I will be returning March 21, most likely to Charlotte but the wonderful people at US Airways moght not let me off in CLT and I'll have to go all the way to Greensboro first. We'll see.
For my friends in Charlotte, I'll be seeing a lot of ya'll. Because most of my 2 weeks back will be in Charlotte. Ya'll up in Greensboro, I'll try and make it there but no promises. People in Chapel Hill/Triangle, I am flying out of RDU so I'll be there a little. I'll make it through the 'Ville so I'll be seeing you guys too. But warning to all of you - if I am in town, I don't want to here any excuses about work or whatever.
For anyone looking at visiting here in the future, especially the people in BAS since I know when your work slows down... , Feb-May is most likely you best time next year. But there are always things to do and there is always something to see. Except this year... It has rained enough this year (2008) for over eighteen moths water supply, or so they say. Thats a lot. It feels like it has rained everyday for the last month and probably has about 90% of them.
Few things - First things I have done - I know ya'll will ask but here are some anyway
Snorkeled on the Reef, been to Bondi Beach (I can see it from my room right now), been to Coogee Beach (used to live there too), been to Manly Beach, been to so many beaches I can;t count them all, walked across the Harbour Bridge, seen fireworks over the Harbour, ridden the ferry across the Harbour (still one of the best views at night), tried surfing (might have reinjured my shoulder too...), tried local beer (its really not that different, trust me), gone out in Darling Harbour (a lot), gone out in The Rocks (a lot), seen the old Real World House, eaten kangaroo (its tasty), seen kangaroos in the wild (but nowhere near Sydney), made friends from all over the world, ridden plenty of trains (not the subway, not the Tube, just trains), gone whitewater rafting, gone seakayaking, gone sailing, seen dolphins and sea turtles, got up close and personal with a ray (but didn't pull a Steve Irwin), watched cricket (and kind of liked it), AFL and Rugby (all on TV, going to get to some games later on) and sure plenty of other things.
Few things that please dont ask me. It wasn't funny beofre I left and will just be even more annoying when I return (and yes I know that you'll do it now, but you would anyway). No there aren;t any kangaroos in the city (except the zoo), 99.9% of bars don't carry Fosters (but one or two have american beers - yea like thats what I want...), people dont really saw G'day mate (usually just mate), or use the words sheila or tucker normally, the water might go the other way in the toilet but it mostly goes straight down (not that I stop to watch anyway), basically if you've seen it in a movie (ie Crocodile Dundee) don't believe it. Think about how movies portray the US... (Godfather, Deliverance, ... get the idea?).
But anyway, see ya'll then. Otherwise I just had another good weekend. Bit of salsa Friday night, BBQ and chillin w/ some friends. Just got back from flying up to the north bit of New South Wales for the day so now I need some sleep. later.
