So we left La Paz and flew down to Buenos Aires, connecting in Santa Cruz (much warmer and tropical than cold, dusty La Paz). We changed flights and arrived down in Buenos Aires when I noticed something a little unusual. See my luggage has a cover and it only fits on one way. So it was a little odd when the cover was put on wrong and you couldn't reach the handle...
Once I looked at it I could see that the TSA lock had been jimmied and my bag opened. After looking, it seemed like it must have been Bolivian or Argentine customs as nothing was missing but my shaving kit had been opened and any creams and things had been tested. Guess they were looking for drugs. I am sure if they knew it was my bag, the bloody noses and sinus problems I was having would have only looked worse. Apparently my head doesn't like flying all the time, more on that in blogs in the future.
I got a hotel in Puerto Madero and we had the next week in the office in BsAs. During the week we had a couple of nice dinners, big awesome steaks and great red wine. My Birthday was in BsAs so we had a steak and hit the casino for a little fun. It was no big deal and not a huge night. I went in with about $25 US and left with almost $250, in right about an hour. Somehow I managed almost 15 blackjacks in that time! I know, sounds ridiculous but Juan was with me and can attest! He got so annoyed that he refused to sit next to me at the table. Moral of the story, go to the casino on your birthday. So I used the money to get a new watch that I cnan wear to the mines.
On the weekend and my free time I wandered around town again, looked at the markets and things, I also went down to the hostel I stayed at for a month and visited the guys there. A few people were still working there and I saw the owners again. We had a drink and caught up. However, as always, it was eventually time for me to go again. So we packed our bags and it was off to Lima!!
