Remember the Alamo!

So after the wedding I caught an early Monday morning flight out of Shannon (clearing US customs there which is really handy) over to NY then down to Houston. I met the other guys from work at the airport as we transferred to our local flight out to Corpus Christi - with about 2 minutes to spare.

We got to Corpus, got our car and found the hotel. Back to the normal routine of travel and work. We were working nearby so it was just a routine week. There was plenty of standard options for food and of course their was Mexican. The other guys were amazed at the low cost of food, especially meat. And of course they ended up eating steaks almost every day.

After a week of work, we decided to head up to San Antonio to go to the outlet stores for some shopping. There was a quick stop in downtown SA for a bit of culture - Alamo and Riverwalk. With our cultural sensitivity training and history lesson done, it was off to help the US economy some.

We all know that outlets are cheaper but for us, its even cheaper compared to Switzerland. So we all bought plenty of stuff and took the scenic way back down south. On Sunday we meet up with one of the guys from work and went driving around the beaches. The beach was public access and drivable, a bit weird considering what I am used to. Being away for so long I forget how car/transportation oriented the US can be. Not so easy to get reliable, safe trains and buses. But you can definitely tell the difference the cheaper and more processed food has made on the general population in the US...

It was good to get out but most of our time in TX was crammed with work, as usual. But all of the people were great. Thanks Steve, Dorise and Irene for everything. After a quick final week, we closed our assignement and caught flights out. Off to London next.
