I made it down form New York to Raleigh, got my bags, met my parents and drove down to Rowland. Over the next few weeks, I managed to visit some friends in Fayetteville and went over to Charlotte.
I saw a few more friends in Charlotte and even got a free ticket to a Bobcats game. I was also picking up my two nephews to take to the farm for Thanksgiving since their parents HAD to go to St. Marten for Elizabeth's sisters wedding. Have to hand it to Vance and her husband, thats a good way to plan a wedding - island, warm, and no kids...
At the farm we started setting up and planning for the crowd for Thanksgiving and I caught up on a few things. I had decided to start flying lessons and was going up as much as I could in the 172. Flying is fun and really not that hard. Just takes some practice.
I was also spending time sorting through a year's worth of mail. In the middle of this I found out that my old cell phone account (which I thought I had cancelled) had been sent to collections. Apparently when I thought I was cancelling it, it was only suspended and the timing of when it was actually cancelled was off. Therefore I had one month's bill, that had gone unpaid... for 10 months or so. So it had been sent to collections... I called around and finally gotten it straight. Thankfully the minimum for a bill to affect your credit is $25... my bill was $24.64 or so. Therefore I could pay the outstanding amount and no problem with my credit rating.
So when Thanksgiving rolled around, it was crazy as ever. We had 21 or so people (from 2 years to considerably wiser). We had the usually model rockets shot off but the unexpected excitement when one of the rockets decided not to fire but instead turned itself into an impromptu fireworks display (surely with no mistake by the supervisor - Mike). As always there was too much food but all good, minus the exploding Pyrex dish of casserole that was put on top of the stove which was then accidentally turned on...
A few days after Thanksgiving, I ran the boys back over to Charlotte so that they could be there when their parents landed and be ready for school. Then it was on for a brief road trip.
