I got back from the trek to Tyrona and spent one more night in Santa Marta before heading over to Taganga... again. I moved over to Casa Divanga Hostal and meet up with several of my friends from various trips / cities.
I spent the next few days just hanging out and then went on 2
dives on Saturday (100kCOP for the dives
and lunch). The nights were punctuated with watching the sunset over the bay and trip down to Sensations nightclub (with the same playlist every night...).
But a few things about Colombia as I have neglected them. One of the funny things you notice is that you can buy bottles of water but you can also buy little and big bags (350ml up to a couple of liters). Its just kind of funny. They also sell milk in cartons or bags and rum and aguardiente (think sambuca) in boxes...
Anyway, they diving was good. I saw several lion fish, eels and
others. The coral was a bit average but it was good overall. We had lunch at a cool little spot that the shop owned out near the island we dove around. It was really just a grass roofed hut n the hillside but it was really isolated. A lot of he people I know are doing open water/advanced/rescue diver courses as this is one of the cheapest places in the world to do it. Its one of
the main tourist draws. It would have to be, Santa Marta overall is not a pretty city and Taganga is a village with only some of the roads paved and even these get covered in sand and mud with heavy rains.
At the end of the weekend I arranged for my Lost City (Ciudad Perdida) trek for Tuesday morning. Five days through the Colombian jungle to see ruins... should be fun and hard.
