Day 63 - 67 (May 17 - 21, BA language school wk 1)

Day 63 - 67 (May 17 - 12, BA language school wk 1)
There is actually a lot to say. On Sunday (May 16) I moved over to a homestay apartment through the language school. It is the flat of a 65 year old lady, who speaks no English and hosts international language students. It seemed like a good idea as I wouldn't be able to speak English even if wanted to.

There are four other sudents there right now, 1 Canadian girl, 2 Brasilian guys (one who speaks zero English) and an older American man. The American moved out on Tuesday but the others, Emma, Ivan and Pablo were staying until Friday/Saturday.

A few things about BsAs / argentine Spanish. They have a tough accent (at least it is for me). The "ll" and "y" are pronounced more like "sh". Also a you would expet they do have a slightly different way of saying common phrases and they use "vos" instead of "tu". Using the little Spanish I can remember, I am constantly reminded by my teacher that I am saying it the "Spanish" way, not the Argentine way....

I started classes Monday morning and am hoping the next 3 weeks of it will give me a good reminder / refresher. We do about 4 hours of class a day, from 9 - 1. Then I spend the afternoon on my own or with a classmate or two exporing BA.

I am still trying to make my mind up what to do (go to Tierra del Fuego or where next) but I know I need a few things. So I ventured up to the shops and ended up buying some cheap shoes and am looking out for what to do for a warmer jacket...as I left my fleece in London...

Th week went by quickly and I soon decided to move back to the hostel this weekend after the others move out. They were really cool and I just dont see the house being as helpful without them to practice my Spanish with. And there are some friends I have made still at the hostel and its way cheaper... and closer to the school and nightlife...

Well this weekend is the bicentenail of Argentina o we don't have classes on Monday or Tuesday... but there is a MASSIVE party all weekend...

Two side notes - please excuse spelling error - since I am in Argentina, the blog webste has decided that the default language is Spanish... so it won't recognise any English so I can't use spell check. also This is my 101 post on my blog!!
