So as I sit here typing, I realize this might be the last thing I write on this computer. You see today is my last day here at work. And I fly out to London next Friday. After the "reorganization" of my department, I was able to find placement within the company in our London office. My new contract has not been finalized but I am going to head over a bit early to visit friends and maybe play cricket.
Yes. cricket. Our Sydney office is doing a "marketing" tour that involves about 15 people going to 7 of our UK offices to play cricket, network and do some brief presentations. So I am going to meet up with them some and maybe play a game or two. Should be fun. Speaking of fun, wait until you hear about my tickets to get to London. It just reaffirms my love for airlines.
So I had a partial ticket from my last trip to the US, for a return trip. Maybe I could exchange it for a ticket to London direct... NO. Since I had used the front half of the ticket, I had to use or lose the return. After many hours on the phone to US Airways, American Airlines, Untied and Qantas, I figured out the best plan was to use my existing ticket (which was Sydney-LA-Atl-RDU) to get me to LA and then by a new ticket to go from LA to London direct. In order to accomplish this, I had to purchase a few thousand frequent flyer miles and pay a few fees. Either way it made my tickets from Sydney to London only cost about $600 or so, way less than any other way. The only catch is the 13 hrs I will spend at LAX on July 4th... Oh well. LONDON HERE I COME.
