I was eating dinner the other night and watching a little TV. Well, not a little TV, my flatmate has a big screen TV but only a bean bag to sit on but there is a mini fridge for refreshments... Priorities, obviously. Don't worry, a new couch will be purchased soon. That way there is a place for people to crash, if they ever come visit.
I flipped through a few channels (there are only 5 public ones and we don't have cable) and saw several familiar shows. Bones, House, NCIS, So you think you can dance, Americ..no Australian Idol (but it looks exactly the same), Futurama and of course The Simpsons.
But what struck me was the number of sporting events. It seems that just about anything qualifies as sport. There is Rugby League, Rugby Union, Aussie Rules, Football (soccer but all of the preceding are called "Footy"), Table Tennis (or as the Chinese call it Ping Pong), Golf, Swimming, Surfing, Boat racing, Horse Races, Greyhound races, some weird plane races, MotoGP, Motocross, Indy Car and almost a dozen other car races. However the best part is that most sports on shown on Fox 8, that's right The Ocho - if its almost a sport, they'll show it. Effin' A Cotton, Effin' A. (Sorry lame Dodgeball reference - just couldn't resist).
I am waiting for crocodile wrestling or kangaroo races but can't seem to find those. I did find out that the new sports bar nearest my house is open until 6am or later/earlier if the game isn't over. So there is hope that I will get to see some UNC games this year.
In other news - My house in Greensboro sold and thanks to my brother, it went smoothly. I didn't have to do a thing! Ok so he did a lot. Thanks again. And NO THE REAL WORLD IS NOT STILL FILMING!! They stopped months ago, but just recently put it on air. I have walked by where they lived, its really cool. But run down now as they have stopped any maintenance on the outside. Sorry this one is short, brought lunch back to my desk and had a few minutes. Promise I'll write something again fairly soon.
